PM Environmental, Inc. was retained to complete Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments on multiple properties that have been single use commercial buildings to multi-tenant properties. Dry Cleaners were present at two (2) locations.
PM has entered two (2) of the properties into the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) Dry Cleaner Trust Fund. The fund allows some financial relief to the cost of the assessment and remediation of impact from currect and former dry cleaner businesses. The use of this program allowed the property sales to continue as scheduled.
At one (1) property in Decatur, Alabama a plume of Tetrachloroethene (PCE) and its by-products was delineated. A Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) report was generated to assist in determing the best remediation options.
A second property in Hartselle, Alabama has been through a Preliminary Assessment, and PCE impact was detected in the soil and groundwater. A Secondary Assessment is being conducted to delineate the extent of the plume.
