Behind the Scenes Tour at Old Cadillac Site in Detroit
On Wednesday, April 6th, PM Environmental attended a site walkthrough of two up-and-coming Brownfield projects in Detroit, Michigan.
NorthPoint Development hosted a site tour of the upcoming M3 Commerce Center – also known as the former Cadillac Stamping plant on the city’s east side. In attendance were various Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Vapor Intrusion and Brownfield Redevelopment and Assessment staff, along with representatives from Salzeider, Inc., and PM Environmental (PM).
During the event, PM guided attendees through the site and provided a step-by-step visual tour of the passive vapor barrier system installation process. Included in the tour was a demonstration of the installation-phase smoke testing and sealing activities by Contractor’s Waterproofing, the vapor barrier system installer.
Following activities at M3 Commerce Center, the group headed over to the former American Motors Headquarters site in Detroit, which along with the Cadillac Stamping Plant is another Brownfield property primed for redevelopment.
“Getting to be out and see the sites that we all (EGLE and the development team) work so hard on together is a very rewarding part of the brownfield redevelopment process, said Jessica DeBone, Regional Manager, Brownfield and Economic Incentives. “Both of the projects visited will have a transformative impact on the community.”
