On Wednesday, May 17, at 3:30 pm., PM Environmental and Columbia Technologies will be discussing new technology that increases the accuracy of upfront assessments on petroleum sites at the Environmental Show of the South in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

One of the challenges of petroleum site characterization and cleanup is accurately determining the extent of the contamination. To properly plan a remedial approach, you need to know the size of the product mass you are trying to remove.

Geoprobes are an excellent tool for sampling specific locations at a site, and in conjunction with new High Resolution Site Characterization Technology (LIF & MIP), provide a complete picture of the depth and extent of subsurface conditions and contaminant distribution.

While increasing the cost initially, the additional High Resolution Site Characterization Technology offers an overall reduction in remediation costs by an amount equal to 4 to 5 times of the total investigation costs, according to Columbia Technologies.

The PM Environmental team: Greg Stephenson, Vice President, and David Pominski, Program Manager, with John Sohl, CEO of Columbia Technologies will present successful case studies and answer questions about employing the new solution to upcoming projects.

The Environmental Show of the South is a three day event, which begins on May 17, features 65 hours of presentations within 18 breakout and 2 plenary sessions.  Attendees have the chance to hear from leading environmental professionals, industry partners, law firms and service providers on government and industry developments and trends, as well as attend technical training sessions to further professional development.  Presentation topics include Materials Management, Vapor Intrusion, Clean Fuels/Clean Energy, Hazardous Waste, Underground Storage Tanks, Environmental Law, and Remediation.

During his Thursday afternoon session on May 18, he will discuss Rural Brownfield Redevelopment Success Stories in the Mid-South, with the aim of inspiring attendees to work towards the same goal in their towns and cities.
